Originally
from New Zealand, Jeff grew up in the North Island and had been
a farmer most of his life before moving to Australia in 1988. Prior
to joining Skyfuel in 2003, Jeff enjoyed working with heavy machinery
in the mining and earthmoving industries. He is a fixed wing private
pilot, glider pilot and tug pilot at Southern Cross Gliding Club
at Camden and enjoys spending time with his family when not in the
air. Jeff likes the environment at Bankstown because of his aviation
interest and “meeting and interacting with intelligent people.”
Because he says nice things about us we don’t bag him about
being a Kiwi. |
After
spending 15 years on Bankstown Airport, is there anyone that Bernie
doesn’t know? With a background in aviation salvage and several
years as a refueller both at Mascot and Bankstown Bernie is the
encyclopedia on who’s who, how and why.
Bernie loves the great outdoors and finds Bankstown a ‘good
healthy environment’.
His other interests include V8 Holden utes, MV Augusta motor bikes
and being seen on the big screen at the State Of Origin. Bernie
affectionately refers to the High Flyer (pub nearby) as ‘the
office’! |
The newest
member of our Bankstown crew, Tony comes from a trade background
as a panel beater (we hope we never need him!) and has spent most
of his career in the truck rental industry. Being new to the aviation
scene, Tony has had a steep learning curve and is enjoying his
time in the wide open spaces of Bankstown Airport. Away from work,
Tony is an RFS Captain at his local brigade south of Sydney and
enjoys Go-Karting in his spare time.

Greg
is known to most of our ‘off airfield’ customers, as
his specialty is delivering bulk loads. With a background in the
RAAF as a fitness instructor, Greg stays in top condition and leads
a healthy lifestyle in the Blue Mountains when not at work.
His other aviation interest is parachuting and he has 500 jumps
under his belt.
Greg especially enjoys the fire season work and holds the company
record of 54 hot refuels, pumping 17,500 litres in a day. (Yass
2003). |
Our
Movie Man, Clive is an Industrial Designer and art director with
credits such as MI II and Star Wars. Clive decided a few years ago
to settle down in one place rather than chase movies around - and
we got him! Like the rest of our team, Clive loves aviation and
is keen to pursue a PPL. In a former role he managed an aircraft
refuelling business at Sydney Airport. Often seen with a cordless
drill, Clive admits to being a powertool nut and can be seen on
his days off renovating his house and taking long weekends with
his darling wife. |
Our
newest team member at Bankstown, Ross started out as a tradesman
mechanic and ended up spending time in the marine industry as a
service manager. He then graduated into the heavy world of industrial
forklifts responsible for the assembly and commissioning of 52 tonne
units around the Asia Pacific. Wishing to reduce the amount of time
spent away from his family, Ross is now fulfilling a desire to work
around aircraft, something he inherited from his father who worked
as a Spitfire engineer in WWII. |

Mangan |
With
a 13 year background in aircraft refuelling and heavy vehicle driving
instruction within the RAAF, Tony is well experienced in all facets
of refuelling and the road transportation of dangerous goods. He
is a qualified workplace assessor/trainer and OHS advisor in the
RAAF Reserve and has worked previously amongst the big jets as a
refueller at Skyfuel Mascot before moving to Bankstown. Tony likes
working around aircraft and doing bulk deliveries off the airport
to smaller GA sites. You can see Tony on the ‘fireline’
during the bushfire season refuelling helicopters in remote locations.
On weekends he can be seen rallying his Datsun 180B SSS rally car
or four wheel driving in the great outdoors. |
Smilie
Sandie is a former community college manager - has a busy life as
a mother of two and runs her own home based felt sculpturing business.
Somehow Sandy manages to squeeze two days per week into her busy
schedule to organise the Skyfuel Admin Office. Is Sandie always
this happy? - YES !! |
With
all the paperwork Skyfuel generates, Sonya is the key behind this
part of the business, and is well known to our Carnet customers.
As a CPA and with a background in management accounting in the oil
industry, Sonya keeps the books sharp, the files filed, and the
boys on their toes! Being based at The Oaks, rather than in the
thick of things in Bankstown, a major fringe fringe benefit is that
Sonya gets to be with her two beautiful children and work from the
home office. |

Rob
Mangan |
|
Graeme originates from Griffith in country NSW and has previously worked in the tyre and food industries. He has spent many hours in the air as a commercial pilot flying both charter and privately in his aerobatic Decathlon.
At Skyfuel Graeme conducts Off Airfield Deliveries and project work when not on the road. Graeme spends his spare time parachuting and flying at Temora Skydive and just hates to talk about it ! |
Our
team leader comes from the Oil Industry, with a background in Aviation
Operations and Marketing. With a love for aeroplanes and trucks,
Rob likes anything aviation and particularly enjoys the adrenalin
of the fire season refuelling. A self confessed warbird nut, Rob
volunteers his time at Temora Aviation Museum refuelling and flys
a Yak 18T radial. He swears that one day there will be a 'Huey'
parked in the backyard! Away from work, Rob cherishes every second
with his beautiful wife (see Sonya) and family. |
